For the third stop of the HWBOT World Tour 2017, for the third year running the HWBOT team will be landing in Poitiers France to take part in Gamers Assembly 2017. Gamers Assembly is the biggest gaming festival in France, and as such it’s the perfect place to evangelize the concept of Overclocking. France’s premier overclocking talent will be in attendance to compete in the World Championship Final, the perfect showcase for a country that even has its own Federation of Overclocking. The LN2 is going to flow for sure!
We would like to thank the following event partners for joining this world tour stop:
The HWBOT World Tour returns to Poitiers, France for Gamers Assembly 2017 will involve four days of Overclocking fun. At its core, the event aims to promote Overclocking to gamers and PC enthusiasts in attendance at the Gamers Assembly event, one of Europe’s most important LAN parties. The HWBOT World Tour – Poitiers 2017 event has three main elements; Overclocking workshops with ambient Overclocking contests, an Extreme Overclocking contest plus a social OC Gathering.
OC Workshops: April 15th to 16th – 10am – 8pm
Attendees to Gamers Assembly will be given the chance to learn all about the basics of Overclocking with workshops sessions run by seasoned local overclockers. Workshops will be run from 10am until 8pm over the weekend. Attendees will be shown how to overclock a system’s CPU. This will be followed by a chance to get hands on, tuning a PC then running a benchmark to asses the improvement in system performance. They can then submit their highest score to an online Ambient Overclocking contest hosted on OC-ESPORTS. The four highest scorers will invited back to compete in the Finals the following day.
Ambient Overclocking Contest: April 17th
The highest scoring Workshop attendees will be invited to compete in Semi-Finals and a Final on the last day of the event. Overclockers will compete in 1v1 contests to decide who will be Poitiers 2017 Ambient Champion. Prizes will be made available for the winners.
Overclocking World Championship – Poitiers 2017 Qualifier: April 16th – 1pm to 4pm
Europe’s Extreme Overclocking community will be given the opportunity to compete in the Overclocking World Championship Qualifier contest. Contest winners will walk away with some great prizes while the grand Final winner will win a ticket to the Overclocking World Championship Final at the end of the year. This means a chance to compete against overclockers from around the world for the right to be crowned World Champion of 2017.
Competing Overclockers will be given three hours to score as highly as possible on three per-determined benchmarks. The top four Overclockers will proceed to Day 2 of the contest.
Note: Information about motherboards, memory and processor limitations for the contest will be announced at a later date.
Overclocking World Championship – Poitiers 2017 Finals: April 17 – 1pm to 5pm
Day 2 of the contest will see the top four Overclockers from the previous day’s qualification stage compete in a series of exciting 1v1 format contests. Semi-Finals will be followed by a Bronze Final and a Grand Final. Benchmarks will be randomly drawn from a pool of six options. Each overclocker will possess one veto which can be used strategically to avoid an unfavorable benchmark being selected.
Overclocking Gathering / Free-Style Overclocking: April 14th to 17th
Space will also be made available for Overclockers who simply want access to LN2 and the chance to get down to some extreme Overclocking. They can also meet and mingle socially with other like-minded Overclockers. It’s a great opportunity to put faces to names and make new friends in the French Overclocking scene.
The event will be structured according to the following schedule:
- April 14th: Overclockers can setup and preparing their benching stations (doors open 6pm)
- April 15th: OC Workshop | Free LN2 Overclocking
- April 16th: OC Workshop | Overclocking World Championship – Poitier 2017 Qualifier (1pm-4pm)
- April 17th: Ambient Finals | Overclocking World Championship – Poitier 2017 Finals (1pm-5pm)
(Note: This is a preliminary schedule and is subject to change).
Important Information: BYOC, Equipment, Labels
Please note that this a BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer) event. Extreme Overclockers, including those competing in the OCWC Qualifier contest, will have to bring their own PSU, Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor, Powerbar and other Overclocking equipment. We expect more than 20 Overclockers to compete, so it is recommended that all equipment is clearly labelled to avoid confusion. The event will provide overnight security, however we recommend that valuables be taken home (to hotel or lodgings) each evening.
