Following up on the success of recent HWBOT X events in Tolosa, Bilbao and Valencia earlier this year, ChentinoX organized a fourth overclocking event in Mollerussa, a town in the province of Lleida in the Catalonia region of Spain. The event was held on November 12 during the Mollerussa LAN PARTY, one of the region’s biggest LAN parties. The event was sponsored by PC component retailer Ibertronica, with motherboards contributed by GIGABYTE plus support from memory vendor Avexir and power supply manufacturer Antec.
As with previous events, HWBOT X Mollerussa offered gamers and enthusiasts in attendance a thirty minute presentation where ChentinoX introduced the concept of overclocking. This was followed up with an overclocking class were attendees were shown how overclocking works, demonstrating the basic skills needed to push a system’s performance.
The afternoon session gave visitors a chance to get hands on with the hardware with a three hour session where they could try and score as highly as possible using the Intel XTU benchmark. The processors available for overclocking were the unlocked Anniversary Edition Intel Pentium G3258 chips. These were used with GIGABYTE Z97X-Gaming G1 motherboards.
All the scores of the contest were submitted to the HWBOT X Mollerussa contest page on OC-ESPORTS. A total of eleven overclockers had a chance to push the system and score as highly as possible using only air cooling. The leaders at the top of the table at the end of the three hour session were Layla in first place followed by raknisha, Cluster98 and notescat1. After semi final head-to-head battles and a grand final, the eventual winner was female overclocker Layla. As well as an Award Ceremony for the winners, attendees were then treated to a demonstration of live extreme overclocking where plenty of LN2 was on hand.
